■ THURSTON swept Springfield last week, getting its first three wins of the season. Tuesday’s game finished 19-1 in four innings, with the Colts scoring 13 in the top of the first inning. Colts catcher Daphnie Heckel was 3-for-3, with a HR, 3 RBI and four runs scored. Friday saw the Colts earn their first two shutouts of the season, with 17-0 and 25-0 victories, both in three innings. The top four hitters in the Colts lineup were 21-for-23, with 20 RBI over those two games, including a three-home run game in Friday’s second game by Heckel. Mallory McGuire threw eight innings over the three games for the Colts, allowing zero earned runs. Julianna Vasquez was the only Millers player to reach base in all three games.
■ CRESWELL was 0-3 last week. Tuesday, the Bulldogs lost a tight game to Pleasant Hill, 12-11. The Bulldogs led 7-2 after the top of the third inning, but allowed the Billies to tie the game in the bottom half of the inning. Creswell had 19 hits compared to six for Pleasant Hill, but made 11 errors. Seven of the Bulldogs nine starters had multiple hits. On Friday, La Pine took both games of a doubleheader. The Bulldogs committed 18 more errors over the two games. On the week, only 20 of the Bulldogs 42 runs allowed were earned. Elise Thackara hit a home run in Friday’s first game and Savannah Rook had three doubles and 3 RBI in the second game.
■ PLEASANT HILL went 1-2 last week. On Tuesday, the Billies won a 12-11 thriller over rival Creswell. Stella Carlton’s 6th-inning single put the Billies ahead for good. Khloe Perkins was 3-for-3 with two doubles and 3 RBI. On Friday, the Billies lost both games of a doubleheader to league-leader Harrisburg. Game One finished 13-3 in five innings and Game Two was 9-8 in extra innings. Lexi Pardee was 2-for-2, with an RBI in game one. The Eagles won in the bottom of the 8th of game two thanks to an RBI groundout. Zeta Holmes was 4-for-4, with two doubles and 2 RBI in that matchup.
