Boys and Girls Track & Field Previews and Recaps

■ THURSTON competed at the Medford Rotary Relays this weekend. Addison Nelson and Brooklyn Anderson both broke the long jump meet record, with Nelson having the better mark. Nelson also broke the meet record in the triple jump and won that event. The Colts also broke the girls 4×100 shuttle hurdles meet record, and set a state record in the event, according to head coach John Gillespie. The Colts also won the girls 4x100m and 4x800m relay.

PREVIEWS

■ CRESWELL, PLEASANT HILL, and SPRINGFIELD will compete at the 3A-SD1 league meet on Wednesday, along with Harrisburg and Lowell. Pleasant Hill’s Gage Roper and Nellie Smith, and Creswell’s Lincoln Criddle are athletes to look out for in the distance events. The Creswell girls 4x400m team, Soleis Jones of P-Hill in the 400m, and Kylie Leonard in the hurdles are other potential standouts. For Springfield, Sailor Hall and Violet Moran are marquee names in the girls throwing events.

■ THURSTON will compete at the Marist Track Classic on Saturday, along with four other teams. Carson Buergey in the boys distance events, Brooklyn Anderson in the girls sprints, hurdles and long jump, and Kelsie Raven and Addison Nelson in the girls jumps are Colts athletes expected to do well.
