■ THURSTON and SPRINGFIELD compete in a dual meet on Wednesday. Expect Springfield to dominate the throwing events, while Thurston likely has the edge on the track and in the jumping pits.

■ On April 11, COTTAGE GROVE, PLEASANT HILL, and CRESWELL competed at the Aaron and Marie Jones Invitational, which had 24 schools competing. Meet records were set by Pleasant Hill’s Soleis Jones in the girls 400m (breaking Creswell’s Journey Meyer’s mark set last year), Gage Roper in the boys 1500m, also of the Billies, and Kylie Leonard of Creswell in the girls 300m hurdles. Also breaking meet records despite finishing second this year, were Ella Cardwell of Cottage Grove in the girls 1500m and Nellie Smith of Pleasant Hill in the girls 3000m, both of whom were 12+ seconds faster than the previous meet record. Connor Nguyen of Creswell won the boys 200m, Micah Hanke of Cottage Grove won the boys 800m, Lincoln Criddle of Creswell won the boys 3000m, and Cottage Grove’s boys 4x400m team won that event. In the throwing events, Lions freshman Carissalyn Height won the shot put and javelin.
■ CRESWELL, SPRINGFIELD, and THURSTON competed in the 22-team John Oliver Invitational on April 18. Brooklyn Anderson of Thurston dominated, shattering her own meet record in the 100m hurdles and setting a personal best of 14.12. Anderson also won the long jump and set a meet record of 18’3.75”. She also was part of the Colts girls 4x100m team, which won the event. The Creswell girls won the 4x400m with a time of 4:08.75. In the throwing events, Springfield continued to dominate: Sailor Hall won the shot put and discus, while Violet Moran won the javelin. Addi Nelson and Kelsie Raven of Thurston were the top jumpers, winning the top two spots in both high jump and triple jump.
