Softball recaps

THURSTON lost to Churchill 15-11 in its league opener. The Colts held an 11-9 lead heading into the top of the seventh, when a walk, an error, and two singles with two outs helped the Lancers score five of their six runs in the inning. For the Colts, Ella Wright was 3-for-4 with two doubles, and Kassidy Anderson was 2-for-4, with 3 RBI. On Saturday, the Colts lost 7-4. The Lancers scored six runs in the second, but Syren Ferguson pitched in relief and threw 3 2/3 innings without allowing any earned runs and striking out six batters. 11 walks, and four hit batters allowed the Lancers to score seven runs on only three hits. On Monday, the two teams made up a game that was supposed to be the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday. Churchill won 13-9. Ferguson shone again, going 3-for-4, with two doubles, a triple, and 2 RBI.

COTTAGE GROVE lost to Harrisburg 13-10. Makya Alsup was 1-for-2, with a double, an RBI and three runs scored. The Lions scored four runs in the final two innings, but were unable to come all the way back from a seven-run deficit. Tuesday’s game against Hidden Valley was canceled.

CRESWELL lost to Sutherlin 14-4. Regan Gwaltney was 2-for-4, with a triple, an RBI and two runs scored for the Bulldogs. On Wednesday, the Bulldogs split a doubleheader with Siuslaw. Game One went to the Vikings 14-10. 11 total errors allowed for the high scores. Maddy Bartlett was 2-for-4, with a triple and 2 RBI for the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs took Game Two 20-5. The two teams combined for 15 more errors. Elise Thackara led the Bulldogs, going 3-for-4, with two doubles and 5 RBI, while throwing all four innings and allowing only one earned run.

PLEASANT HILL defeated Oakridge 26-12. All 12 Billies who registered an at-bat had at least one hit. Zaira Duarte was 4-for-5, with 5 RBI and five runs scored, Lexi Pardee was 3-for-4, with 4 RBI and four runs scored, and Khloe Perkins was 3-for-5, with a HR.
