■ THURSTON took two games out of three against Churchill in its first league series of the season. The Lancers won Game One, 6-4. The Lancers’ top five hitters had nine of the team’s 10 hits and all six RBI. In Game One on Saturday, the Colts won 9-3. Grady Saunders had a massive day at the plate: 2-for-5, with 2 HR and 7 RBI. Brody Corgain threw a complete game on 99 pitches, striking out five batters. Game Two saw the Colts win 20-1 in five innings. Saunders had another big game: 3-for-4, a double, triple, two stolen bases and five more RBI.
■ SPRINGFIELD lost to McDaniel 25-1. The Mountain Lions scored 20 runs in the first two innings alone. The Millers walked 12 batters, hit four more, and committed four errors.
■ COTTAGE GROVE lost to Glide 15-5. After a four-run top of the fourth, the Lions held a 5-1 lead. Seven runs in the bottom of the inning meant they immediately gave it up, and never got it back. On Saturday, the Lions split a doubleheader with Newport. In Game One, the Cubs won 11-1 in six innings. The Lions mustered only one hit. The Lions won 9-7 in Game Two. Nolan Spear hit two home runs, going 2-for-3 with 5 RBI. He also pitched in relief and threw the final three innings, after catching the first nine innings of the two games that day.
■ CRESWELL defeated Sutherlin 3-2. Cody Winn laid down a bunt single, then Braden Hartman scored after a throwing error to give the Bulldogs a walk-off victory. Landon Vaughn was stellar in relief of starter Matthew Jenkins, throwing four scoreless innings and striking out six batters. On Wednesday, the Bulldogs defeated Umpqua Valley Christian 1-0. Carson Clark delivered an RBI single in the bottom of the 7th inning for the Bulldogs’ second consecutive walk-off win. Jaxon Pelham threw a complete-game shutout, holding the Monarchs to two.
■ PLEASANT HILL defeated Oakridge 12-2 in six innings. Seven of the Billies nine starters had at least one RBI. Gabe VanOrdstrand threw a complete game, allowing only three hits and striking out nine batters. On Monday, the Billies lost to Elmira 7-4. The Falcons scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a 3-3 tie. Abe Craig was 3-for-3, with two stolen bases, an RBI and two runs scored. He had three of the Billies’ six hits.
