■ THURSTON (0-9, #28) has three league matchups this week. On Saturday, it travels to No. 11 Churchill (4-3) for a doubleheader to finish their three game series. On Tuesday, the Colts welcome No. 6 North Eugene (5-3) for the start of a three game series. Last season, the Colts swept the Highlanders, scoring 31 runs over three games. After being ranked third in the pre-season Class 5A coaches poll, the Colts are on a nine-game losing streak, their longest since at least 2014, according to OSAA.
■ SPRINGFIELD (0-8, #32) begins league play on Tuesday with No. 14 Eagle Point (4-3). Last season, the Eagles swept the Millers, scoring 48 runs in a three game span. The Eagles were ranked 8th in the pres-season Class 5A coaches poll. The Millers have scored more than two runs only once in their past five games.
■ COTTAGE GROVE (2-7, #22) has one game this week. It welcomes No. 25 Hidden Valley (3-5) on Tuesday. Last season, the Mustangs defeated the Lions 5-0. The Lions offense exploded last week in their doubleheader against Creswell. They scored 10+ runs for the first time this season in both games, and got the first two wins of their season as a result.
■ PLEASANT HILL (2-3, #22) has two games this week. First, it travels to No. 7 Marist Catholic (5-3) for a non-league game on Friday. In 2024, the Spartans defeated the Billies 6-1. On Tuesday, they open league play with No. 6 Elmira (6-0). Last season, Elmira swept the three game season series between these two, and the Billies have lost seven in a row to the Falcons over the past three seasons.
■ CRESWELL (2-4, #35) has one game this week. The Bulldogs begin Mountain Valley Conference play with No. 18 Harrisburg (4-3). Last season’s league opener saw the Bulldogs fall to the Eagles, then a Harrisburg/Monroe combined squad, 15-1. They lost the next two matchups as well, scoring only one run total over the three games. The Bulldogs dropped all three games last week after starting the season 2-1.
