Springfield man arrested after fleeing in Veneta

VENETA – On March 1 at 9:30 a.m., Lane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a vehicle trespassing in the 25100-block of East Broadway Avenue, Veneta.

The vehicle description matched a vehicle that had recently fled from Eugene Police officers. The suspected driver, David Johnathan Guggenmos, 41, of Springfield, had a felony warrant for his arrest.

Guggenmos’ vehicle was located in a nearby church parking lot. A deputy attempted to make a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled. A trooper deployed spike strips, deflating three tires and slowing the vehicle to around 25 miles per hour. The vehicle turned into a parking lot off East Hunter Road and was pinned against a curb.

Guggenmos was not initially cooperative but was arrested without further incident, lodged at the Lane County Jail, and charged with elude by vehicle, resisting arrest, and a parole violation warrant for conviction on unlawful use of a vehicle.
