Millers still unbeaten; Creswell wins title
■ SPRINGFIELD: The No. 2 Millers (21-2) went 2-0 last week. On Tuesday, the Millers beat No. 18 Thurston (8-14) 57-23 at home before traveling to No. 28 Ashland (4-17) on Friday to win 79-14. Despite the Millers remaining undefeated in Class 5A play (21-0), they remain at No. 2 in the Class 5A OSAA rankings behind No. 1 Redmond (21-1).
■ CRESWELL: The No. 4 Bulldogs (19-6) went 1-1 last week, beating No. 7 Pleasant Hill (17-9) 42-26 on Saturday. The Bulldogs won the Mountain Valley Conference convincingly this season, which has put them as a top seed in the upcoming playoffs. The Bulldogs remain at No. 4 this week.
■ THURSTON: The No. 18 Colts (8-14) went 0-1 last week, losing to No. 2 Springfield (21-2) 57-23. This marked the fifth straight loss for the Colts as they remain at No. 18 in the Class 5A OSAA rankings.
■ COTTAGE GROVE: The No. 16 Lions went 1-1 last week. First on Tuesday, the Lions fell to No. 20 Junction City (8-16) 51-36. Mariah Bailey led the way in this one, scoring 15 points. Then on Thursday, the Lions beat No. 9 North Bend (18-5) 58-50 due in large part to Makya Alsup. Alsup finished the game with 28 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Despite the victory, the Lions dropped one spot in the Class 4A OSAA rankings.
■ PLEASANT HILL: The No. 7 Billies went 1-1 last week. On Thursday they beat No. 5 Sisters (19-6) 39-31 before falling to No. 4 Creswell (19-6) on Saturday 42-26. With the win, the Billies climbed one spot in the Class 3A state rankings.
