Boys and girls swimming recaps

SPRINGFIELD: The Millers competed in the Midwestern League Districts two weeks ago on Friday, Feb. 13. The Millers boys earned second place and the girls took third. The team scores combined together to give the Millers an overall placement of second. Mateo Buhr was a standout for the Millers, earning first in the Male 400 Free.

THURSTON: The Colts competed in the Class 5A OSAA State Championships last weekend. The boys took first place with 67 points while the girls got ninth with 11. Quinn Devenport was the overall standout of the meet, taking first place in four events, leading all swimmers. His best performance was in the 50 Free where he swam a 20.98.

COTTAGE GROVE: The Lions girls competed in the Class 4A State Championships last weekend. The Lions earned fifth place with 28 points. Cottage Grove shined in the Girls 400 Free, taking first in that event. Avery Bengtson was a big standout for the Lions, getting second in both the 100 Backstroke and 100 Butterfly.
