Springfield School Board to interview candidates Friday for acting superintendent

The Springfield Public Schools (SPS) Board of Directors will interview three candidates for the role of acting superintendent on Friday, Feb. 20 at 5 p.m. The interviews will be conducted in open session, with each candidate scheduled for a 20-minute interview.

Following the interviews, the Board will deliberate in open session and is expected to select the individual who will serve as Acting Superintendent beginning March 1, 2026.

The three candidates being interviewed are:

  • Dr. Brian Megert, Director of Special Programs, SPS
  • Ame Beard, Principal of Academy of Arts and Academics (A3), SPS
  • Jodi O’Mara, former Superintendent of Mapleton School District

The selected candidate is expected to serve in the role through June 30, while the Board establishes and implements a process to select an interim superintendent for the 2026-27 school year. The Board is expected to conduct a permanent superintendent search next school year.

During the meeting, the Board is also expected to discuss next steps and outline the process for conducting the search for an interim superintendent.
