New director at Hope & Safety Alliance

After eight years as executive director, on March 1, Julie Weismann will step down from her role leading the Hope & Safety Alliance.

“Under her exceptional leadership, the organization has grown in its impact and reach, transforming countless lives through her unwavering commitment to domestic violence survivors and their families,” board president Candice Hook said in a news release.

Weismann will remain with Hope & Safety Alliance as the finance director.

Formerly Womenspace, Hope & Safety Alliance provides trauma-informed and survivor-centered services for all survivors of domestic and sexual violence across Lane County. It accepts referrals from community partners with survivors’ consent and provides emergency services, legal support services, housing support services, food and supplies, peer counseling, and transportation.

On Tuesday, Feb. 11, the board announced that Kim Lax had been selected as the new executive director. She had previously served as the organization’s deputy director for the past four years and development director.
