Interstate 5 Connector Overpass Project ongoing

COTTAGE GROVE — Construction has started on the underside of the I-5 Connector. The ODOT-contracted crew is working under the bridge to install a concrete protective slope that goes from the side of the road to the bottom of the bridge. They have started on North Lane Street and will move to North Douglas next. Expect flaggers on North Lane Street and North Douglas Avenue, under the bridge, helping to direct traffic. Repairs include:

• Repairing the concrete bridge deck and installing a protective overlay to prevent future damage.

• Building Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) access ramps at each corner of the bridge.

•  Repairing and strengthening the bridge abutments, on both ends, where the road meets the bridge.

• Installing new guardrail to current standards.

Plan ahead: In March you can expect a full closure of the E. Cottage Grove Connector Road for several days. Sometime after the full closure, the eastbound lane of the E. Cottage Grove Connector Road will close and  westbound traffic will have vehicle width restrictions.
