The immortal Kenneth Robert Giffen departed this life for “worlds unknown” on Aug. 9, 2022, at the age of 65. Kenneth was one of nine children born to Glen H. and Maide (Christiansen) Giffen on Jan. 23, 1957, in Cottage Grove, Ore. and remained in the area the rest of his life. Kenny enjoyed working in the woods as a logger for several different companies and retired from Diamond Creek Timber Management in 2018.
He married Hannah Lee Duer June 19, 2012, in Virginia City, Nev. She grew up in the Silk Creek area west of Cottage Grove and has two grown sons, Joseph Lloyd Ward and Joshua James Ward and his wife Charmaine. She will remain on their Silk Creek farm where she and Kenny lived for over 10 years.
Kenneth was a kind, and caring man having mentored a number of young people throughout the years, seeing to their needs and welfare. He loved animals and appreciated the beauty of nature everywhere. He will be mourned by his family and many wonderful friends.
He was preceded in death by three of his brothers, Duane Giffen, Ronald Giffen and Andy Giffen. He is survived by two brothers Herb and Glyde Giffen both of Springfield, and three sisters Marie Mathews of Creswell, Linda Ezell (Jim) also of Creswell and Marly Simons (Roy) of Cottage Grove. He is the father of Barbie Bowman of Cottage Grove, Leisa Smith of Creswell, and Johnathan Giffen of Creswell, grandfather of seven and great-grandfather of four all living in the surrounding area. Hannah would like to express her heartfelt gratitude for the out-pouring of love, food, flowers, cards and prayers.
There is a celebration of life, pie and ice cream social at their home 79517 Repsleger Road, Cottage Grove, Lorane Hwy, Aug. 27 at 2 p.m. Arrangements by Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel and Crematorium.
