Students struggling with mental health?

The Oregon Departmetn of Education has introduced a new mental health resource, Oregon Classroom Wise – a suite of free print and video resources, tutorials, real interviews with school personnel available at the website. 

This self-guided content for adults and for youth has tools for enhancing mental health and well-being, incuding topics like building safe, healthy relationships and practices for supporting youth experiencing life challenges, and stress and for handling challenging behaviors. School supplies sought

SPRINGFIELD – Catholic Community Services is collecting new school supplies and backpacks for families served by Case Managers and the Service Centers in Eugene and Springfield.  

Drop off your donations of school supplies to CCS locations Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.. at the corners of 10th and G streets. 

For a list of needed supplies or to make an online donation and let CCS handle the shopping, visit ccslc.org/bts. If you would like to host a collection bin at your place of business, please contact CCS at 541-345-3628 x317. Your donations will be distributed to students in need at no cost to their families.

Students earn dean’s list

Sarah Jenkins of Springfield has been named to the Spring 2022 dean’s list at Concordia University Wisconsin. Jenkins is a senior studying human resource management.  

Kindra Roy of Springfield has been named to the Spring 2022 dean’s list at Pacific University in Oregon. 

 Courtney Riedel of Cottage Grove, and Ann Brady, Nichole Burian and Kayla Peel of Springfield have been named to the Spring 2022 dean’s list at Eastern Oregon University. 

Project Hope’ event returns on Saturday

 SPRINGFIELD – The annual Project Hope school supply giveaway event will be held on Saturday, Aug, 27, at Maple Elementary. Each student will receive a backpack filled with school supplies, a pair of shoes and socks. Haircuts, well-check or sports physicals, and immunization appointments will also be available for interested students and families.
