Clyde A. Putman April 5, 1929 – Aug. 16, 2022

Clyde A. Putman, 93, of Cottage Grove, Ore. passed away August 16, 2022. Clyde was born April 5, 1929, in Oregon City. to parents Charles and Abbie (Scouton) Putman. Clyde grew up outside of Cottage Grove on 80 acres where he loved being outdoors, he was a lifelong resident of the area. He graduated from Cottage Grove High School in 1947 and began his career at Weyerhaeuser eventually becoming the head filer for 40 plus years. He married Patricia Jean Ballard on Sept. 22, 1949, in Baker, Ore. Clyde and Pat were married 72 years until her passing June 29, 2022. Clyde was a big outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, and camping. He enjoyed gunsmithing, gun collecting, woodworking and yard-saling. He especially enjoyed family get-togethers, visiting and telling family stories. Clyde was a member of the Western Saw Filer Association and was inducted into the Hall of Fame. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge for 31 years. He is survived by his children; son Dale (Terree) Putman of Bend, daughter Jeanette (Kevin) Pillow of Cottage Grove, son Ken (Nancy) Putman of Creswell, son Kevin (Kathy) Putman of Cottage Grove, 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews. Clyde is preceded in death by his wife Patricia, sisters Betty, Edna, and Thelma. A funeral service was held at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel on Monday, Aug. 22. Interment was at Brumbaugh Cemetery following the service. Arrangements in the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel and Crematorium.
