Top football recruit releasing official visits

The recruitment of Central Catholic High School (Oregon) tight end Riley Williams reached a fever pitch over the past several months, as he hauled in more than 20 major scholarship offers.

Last month, the 6-foot-6, 230-pound pass-catcher began to whittle down his options, trimming his list to a group of eight – Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State and Oregon.

This week, Williams has begun releasing his official visit schedule.

Four programs will get trips, and Williams confirmed Tuesday that he currently has “no fifth (visit) in mind.”

The Central Catholic star will, however, take official visits to Alabama (June 3), Ohio State (June 10), Miami (June 17) and Oregon (June 24).

Whoever secures his commitment will be getting a major prize.

A consensus four-star recruit, Williams is rated as highly as the nation’s No. 2 tight end.

Many view Oregon as the team to beat for Williams given that his brother, Korbin Williams, is a wide receiver for the program.
