Motorcyclist critically injured in Springfield accident

Springfield police and fire departments responded to the intersection at the 3300 block of Gateway Street for a motor vehicle accident between a vehicle and a motorcycle at 5:11 p.m. on May 18.
The intersection was mostly blocked and traffic was restricted to one lane for northbound and one lane for southbound traffic for two hours.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcycle driven by Michael Christopher McNall, 27, of Eugene was traveling southbound in the number-one lane of Gateway Street. The passenger car, driven by Kathleen Ingeroi, 71, of Eugene was northbound on Gateway Street and was attempting to turn left at the intersection into the Crossroads Center shopping center when the two vehicles collided.
McNall was transported by ambulance to RiverBend Hospital where he is being treated for life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition. Ingeroi, who was driving a 1999 Honda Accord, was not injured and is cooperating with the investigation.
The crash is being investigated by the the Springfield Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team, and the investigation is ongoing. If additional persons witnessed the accident or have any additional information they are asked to call the Springfield Police Department at 541-726-3714.
