Lowell qualifies six wrestlers for state tournament

Lowell finished second to Reedsport in the district 2A-1A wrestling tournament Saturday on the Red Devils’ mats and qualified six individuals, including five district champions for the state tourney Feb. 16-17 in Portland.
Justin Corp won the 113-pound class with an 18-7 major decision while Tristan Garcin placed third.
Kasey Erwin defeated teammate Kent McIntosh in the finals. Erwin received a bye to the finals while McIntosh advanced with a 31-second pin.
Sebastian Garcin used 34-second and 1:34 pins to reach the finals where he won a 15-5 decision at 152 pounds.
Nate Roat won three matches by pins at 160, nailing opponents in 19 seconds, 31 seconds and 3:10 to finish first.
Thomas Talamantes-Ward received a bye to the 285-pound finals where he won a 5-1 decision.
Logan Davis-Tucker added a third at 126 pounds. He won a 3-1 quarterfinals decision, lost in the semis, then won by a 4:31 pin in the consolation semis before recording a 9-7 decision in the third-place match.
