As summer kicks off, OnPoint Community Credit Union has announced grants through its bi-annual Community Grants & Giving program, including donations to two Lane County nonprofits serving local children.
OnPoint donated $10,000 to the Willamalane Park Foundation to provide scholarships for kids in Springfield to attend summer camp, regardless of financial barriers. The donation also helps working families access reliable childcare and recreation opportunities during the summer months.
Willamalane Park & Recreation District serves more than 300 children across 15 camps and more than 100 weeks of programming.
OnPoint also awarded $2,500 to Bags of Love to support the nonprofit’s mission to provide personalized bags of necessities to children experiencing abuse, neglect, homelessness, poverty, or disaster. Bags are filled with essentials and comfort items tailored to the child’s age and circumstances, including clothing, toiletries, books, toys and handmade quilts.
Bags of Love fulfilled every verified request last year, distributing 4,708 personalized care bags – a 9% increase over the previous year – with support from 178 community agency partners.
