Beginning June 1, all households applying for or renewing SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits will be required to complete an interview, a return to standard federal regulations aimed at ensuring benefit accuracy. This requirement follows a temporary waiver during the Covid-19 pandemic that allowed some households to skip renewal interviews.
The mandatory interviews are designed to confirm information, prevent errors, and ensure recipients receive the correct benefit amounts. Individuals applying for or renewing benefits will need to schedule an interview, which may be a new process for some, particularly those who previously did not require one.
