Softball Recaps

■ PLEASANT HILL defeated Toledo 12-11 in a non-league regular-season finale. Khloe Perkins scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning, and also pitched all eight innings, with 13 strikeouts. Only one of her 11 runs allowed was earned. In their opening game of the state playoffs, the Billies lost to Willamina 15-5 on Monday. The Billies scored all five runs in the second inning, but mustered only one hit in the four other innings. Acadia Bloxham reached in two-of-three plate appearances and drove in a run, and Zeta Holmes was 1-for-3, with a two-RBI single.

■ COTTAGE GROVE lost all three games to North Bend/Reedsport in its final week. The Lions scored 23 runs over the three games, but allowed 48. Shae Richardson hit a three-run home run in the top of the second in Friday’s first game, and a grand slam in the top of the fourth inning of the second game. Jayda Bruner also hit a home run immediately after Richardson in the first game.

■ SPRINGFIELD closed out its season with a sweep at the hands of Class 5A No. 5 Crater. The Millers were scoreless in their final eight games.

■ THURSTON finished its season with a sweep of Ashland/Phoenix. The Colts rebounded from an 0-21 start to win their final six games. The Colts scored 107 runs in their final six games, compared to 99 in their first 21. On Tuesday, Raygan Litle was 2-for-4, with two doubles and two RBI. Daphnie Heckel hit her fifth HR in the last four games, and fourth in the last two. Heckel also homered in the final two games of the season to give her seven in the final six. Litle hit five home runs in Thursday’s doubleheader, including four in Game One. Payton Tovey, Syren Ferguson, and Rosalina Montes all also hit home runs on Thursday, and Tovey had five hits and six RBI in Thursday’s first game.
