Local talent on display at this weekend’s Spring Marketplace

SPRINGFIELD – Willamalane is hosting a Spring Marketplace this weekend, just in time for Mother’s Day. Whether mom comes along to browse the 100-plus local vendors, or if folks are in need of some new spring décor, the Bob-Keefer Center is the one-stop shopping destination.

According to Whitney Hoshaw, Willamalane marketing and communications manager, Spring Marketplace brings local makers, small businesses, and the community together in one space. It offers an opportunity to shop local, support small businesses, and find unique, locally made items. With its timing ahead of Mother’s Day, the event also highlights seasonal goods and thoughtful gifts that families can browse together.

“The event creates an opportunity for small businesses to connect directly with the community and for people to spend time together while supporting local,” Hoshaw said.

She said attendance has grown consistently over recent years, and last year’s Spring Marketplace saw over 1,100 people. This is about half the size of the crowd during Willamalane’s Holiday Marketplace in November.

Attendees can expect to find handcrafted jewelry, art and prints, candles, baked goods, and home décor, along with seasonal items such as plants and garden-related products. Folks can hear live music and entertainment. Dawn’s Most Wanted Espresso, El Pique, and The Baker Girl food trucks will also be on the scene.

Hoshaw said vendor recruitment began in March, with a focus on curating a diverse selection of goods.

“One of the highlights is seeing the full space come together, with over 100 local vendors and a steady flow of community members throughout the day,” she said.

Starting this Friday at noon and until 5 p.m., people can wander vendor booths and might even find that perfect gift for mom. If Fridays don’t work, the marketplace continues on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
