EUGENE – Health Care for All Oregon Lane County Chapter is hosting a Town Hall on Sunday, April 19, from 2-4 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 1685 W. 13th Ave.
The discussion will center on Oregon’s potential transition to Universal Healthcare, featuring members of the Universal Health Plan Governance Board.
Health Care for All Oregon is a nonprofit that advocates for an equitable, affordable, comprehensive, high-quality publicly funded universal healthcare system, believing that such a healthcare transformation will improve the lives of individuals, families, and communities across Oregon.
Created by the Oregon Legislature, the governing board is developing a plan to finance, administer, and transition Oregon to a Universal Health Care system covering every resident. The Board is on track to deliver that plan to the Legislature in September. Legislators will take up the recommendation in the ’27 session and might refer the decision to voters as early as ’28.
Oregon is the only state with a constitutional amendment guaranteeing health care as a fundamental right of every resident. The event will begin with a presentation on the governing board’s progress. All events are free; registration information is available at hcao.org.
