GLENWOOD – Each Lane County household on April 11 was eligible to receive up to 1 cubic yard of free, unbagged compost from Rexius, a full-service landscape company and manufacturer of organic products, including compost, mulch, and soils. This work is supported by the Office of Urban Agriculture and Innovative Production’s Composting and Food Waste Reduction Cooperative Agreements from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture. Some residents came prepared with shovels, buckets, tarps, and whatever else they needed to transport compost, while those with open-bed trucks or a Rexius front loader helped load compost into people’s vehicles.
