One sweet purchase can make an impact

SPRINGFIELD – What if dessert was dinner — and eating it helped a neighbor in need?

Catholic Community Services of Lane County (CCS) and Springfield Mayor Sean VanGordon invite the community to join the seventh annual Dessert for Dinner fundraiser, running now through May 9. This initiative aims to help local families in need by providing food, emergency rent and utility assistance, clothing, hygiene supplies, and case management services.

Each curated dessert box contains treats from local bakeries, including gourmet cupcakes, cookies, cakes, and bars, along with a greeting card from JilliBring and a long-stem rose. Buyers will also vote for the People’s Choice Award, with the winning bakery receiving the Mayor’s Measuring Cup trophy.

Orders can be placed online at ccslc.org/d4d2026. Pickup is scheduled for Saturday, May 9, from 9 to 11 a.m. at 1025 G St., Springfield. Boxes are limited and tend to sell out quickly. For inquiries, email [email protected] or call 541-345-3628, ext. 1317.
