■ CRESWELL lost to Horizon Christian, Tualatin 3-2 on Tuesday. The Bulldogs held a 2-0 lead until the sixth inning, when two walks and a hit-by-pitch came back to haunt them. Hawks senior Ben Sorrentino drove home the winning run on a single in the 7th. Last year’s first team all-state selection Matthew Jenkins threw 5 innings, allowing two runs and striking out seven batters. In the Bulldogs next two games of the week, they lost 3-0 and 1-0 to Junction City and Taft, respectively. It was the second time in three years that the Bulldogs had been shutout in back-to-back games. Transfers Landon Vaughn and Zak Hermansen combined for four scoreless innings against Junction City, allowing two hits total. The Bulldogs were no-hit against Taft, spoiling another pitching outing from Jaxon Pelham.

■ COTTAGE GROVE lost to Sweet Home 10-0 in five innings on Tuesday. The Huskies scored eight runs in the second inning on only two hits. Nikai Bridgens’ single in the first inning was the Lions only hit. The Lions got their first two wins of the season in a doubleheader on Friday against Coquille. In Game One, they won 10-0 in five innings, scoring eight runs in the first two frames. That gave their pitchers the ability to be aggressive. Starter Elijah Cushman struck out seven Red Devils in 2 2/3 innings, and the three Lions pitchers only allowed three combined hits. In Game Two, they won 14-3 in six innings. Evan Emmick had two hits and 3 RBI to bring his total on the day to four and five, respectively. The three pitchers allowed two hits and all three runs were unearned.

On Friday, the Milers fell to Dallas 17-1 in five innings. Owen James’ hit streak was snapped, but he still reached base for the fifth consecutive game thanks to a hit-by-pitch. Ryan Letsom scored the team’s only run in the first inning, after he doubled to begin the game.

■ PLEASANT HILL defeated North Valley 10-7 on Friday after their first two games of the week were cancelled. Against the Knights, the Billies scored four in the bottom of the sixth inning to take back the lead after the Knights had snatched it in the top half of the inning. The top four hitters in the Billies order reached base in 10 of their 14 plate appearances. Joe Ewing provided support from a little further down, going 2-for-3, with an RBI.
