Softball recaps

CRESWELL was 2-0 last week, both games coming on Thursday. In the morning, it defeated Oakridge 8-3. Sophomore Brenna Roat was 2-for-3 with a HR, 3 RBIs, and 3 R, while Savannah Rook was 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, and 2 RBI. Elise Thackara threw a complete game, striking out six batters. In the afternoon, they defeated Coquille 15-10. Rook was 2-for-4, with a double and 2 RBI, Jordyn Marklin was 3-for-4, with 3 RBIs, and 3 R, and Maddy Bartlett was 2-for-3, with a double, and 2 RBIs.

THURSTON went 0-4 at the North Medford Tournament. On Monday, the Colts lost 4-0 to Roseburg and 12-2 to Barlow, and on Tuesday they lost 6-3 to Century and 15-4 to North Medford. Junior Mallory McGuire was excellent against Roseburg, throwing 6 innings, allowing four hits and just one earned run. McGuire had another quality outing against Century, throwing four innings and allowing one hit and no earned runs. Kassidy Anderson and Daphnie Heckel combined for 11 of the 18 hits the Colts mustered during the tournament.

SPRINGFIELD lost all four games at the North Eugene Tournament and one additional non-league matchup. At the tournament, it lost its four games by an average of 15 runs. On Friday, the Millers lost to Mountain View 21-2 in three innings.

COTTAGE GROVE/YONCALLA has lost six in a row to start its season. At the Steve Garrett Memorial Tournament, it went 0-4 over two days, allowing 14.75 runs per game. Alexsis Woody shined against Astoria in the Lions first tournament game, going 3-for-3, with a double, a triple, and 3 RBIs. In their final game against La Grande/Imbler/Elgin, the Lions had five players with multiple hits and scored seven runs.
