■ THURSTON went 2-3 at the Coach Bob Tournament at Desert Mountain High School in Arizona last week. Teams from the western half of the U.S. came to the tournament. The Colts lost to Desert Mountain (Ariz.) 7-0 in their first game on Monday. The home team put up six runs in the fourth inning to blow open the game. On Tuesday, the Colts defeated Shadow Ridge (Ariz.) 12-8. Grady Saunders threw four scoreless innings and went 3-for-5 at the plate, while catcher Carlin Crutcher was 2-for-3, with 3 RBIs. On Wednesday, Dakota Ridge (Colo.) defeated the Colts 7-6. They lost another one-run game the next day, 6-5 to Damonte Ranch (Nev). In both games, Thurston mounted a late rally but fell short of a comeback. In their final game, the Colts defeated Mountain Pointe (Ariz.) 12-10. Brody Corgain threw 5 1/3 innings and reached base in all five plate appearances, while Luke Blair had two doubles, 2 RBIs, and 3 runs scored.
■ The CRESWELL Bulldogs swept a doubleheader against Glide on Friday, March 20. They won 11-6 in Game One. Kayden Roberts led the Bulldogs offensively, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and 3 RBIs. Matthew Jenkins was stellar on the mound, going 4 2/3 innings, allowing only two hits and two unearned runs. In Game Two, they won 10-0, run-ruling the Wildcats in six innings. The 3-through-7 hitters of the Bulldogs lineup carried the load, with nine of their team’s 12 hits and nine of the 10 runs scored. Jaxon Pelham was excellent as a pitcher, throwing 5 innings, allowing no runs and striking out eight.
■ PLEASANT HILL went 0-4 last week after winning its season opener on March 16. It lost to Taft 12-2 on Friday, March 20, then 3-1 to Myrtle Point and 12-1 to Lost River on Thursday, and 4-2 to Clatskanie on Friday, March 27. The offense has been a struggle for the Billies thus far, but they have had standout pitching performances: Freshman Wyatt Blake went 6 2/3 innings against Myrtle Point, allowing only two unearned runs and striking out eight, and Wyatt Krauss threw two scoreless innings in relief against Clatskanie.
■ COTTAGE GROVE remained winless with an 0-3 week at the White Buffalo Classic after losing a doubleheader to Oakridge to begin the season. On Wednesday, it lost 12-10 to host Madras and 13-5 to Crook County. On Thursday, the Lions fell to Culver 17-16 due to 14 walks and five errors. The Lions defense struggled, but their top three hitters shined offensively. Colton Cogburn was 8-for-10, with 4 RBIs and 3 runs, Nikai Bridgens was 4-for-10, with a homer and 4 RBIs, and Andrew Horner was 6-for-12 with 3 RBIs.
■ SPRINGFIELD went 0-2 in the Springfield Tournament at Hamlin Sports Complex, losing to Sprague 20-0 in five innings, then to Redmond 24-3 in four innings. Oliver James had all three Millers hits against Sprague. Against Redmond, the top three Millers hitters were 5-for-7 with 2 RBIs, while the rest of the order was 0-for-10.
