The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) is reminding parents and caregivers that the deadline for updating children’s vaccinations is Feb. 25. All children in public and private schools, preschools, Head Start, and licensed child care facilities must show documentation of up-to-date vaccinations or have an exemption by this date.
Last year, 1,552 cases of pertussis were reported in Oregon, reaffirming the importance of vaccinations.
A recent OHA report indicates that the nonmedical exemption (NME) rate for school vaccinations has reached a record high of 9.7%, primarily due to concerns over vaccine safety. Call 211 or visit to locate vaccine clinics.
