Boys basketball recaps

PLEASANT HILL defeated Sisters 65-61 in double overtime. Landen Melvin led the Billies with 26 points and Noah Johnson scored 16 and made four 3-pointers. Will McDonnell led the Outlaws with 21 points, but the Billies held him to one point in the two extra periods.

CRESWELL lost to Elmira 63-58 on Tuesday. After Senior Night ceremonies, the Falcons came out firing with a 23-12 first quarter. Sixteen turnovers and 6-of-17 shooting from the free throw line proved too much to overcome for the Bulldogs. Ace Arnold led the Bulldogs with 16 points and three steals, but injured his ankle in the fourth quarter.

COTTAGE GROVE lost to Marist Catholic 58-23 on Tuesday. The Lions’ 23 points were their fewest in a game since at least 2013, according to OSAA records. The Spartans are a half-game back from Sky Em League leaders Marshfield, and play the Pirates on Tuesday. The Lions lost to Marshfield 74-40 on Friday. The 74 points were tied for the second most the Lions had allowed this season.

SPRINGFIELD lost to Eagle Point 76-58 on Thursday. The 58 points were the Millers’ fourth-most points scored this season. The Millers and Eagles split their two matchups this season and are tied for last in the Midwestern League.

THURSTON defeated Crater 69-45 on Friday. The Colts used a 24-10 third quarter to pull away, led by Treyson Hill’s 12 points in that period. Hill finished with 19 points and three blocks, and Lucas LaBounty scored 27 and grabbed nine rebounds. The Colts’ big three of Hill, LaBounty and Leo Filipe scored 60 of their team’s 69 points.
