■ COTTAGE GROVE: The Lions travel to regionals on Saturday in Newport.They’ll finish their season in a battle against their fellow Class 4A Special District 2 teams, Cascade, Junction City, Newport, and North Marion. Jeffrey Conklin has yet to lose a match this season (45-0) and it’s unlikely he will start here. Boston Kent (135) has also had a solid season for the Lions. It will be interesting to see how she performs on this big stage.
■ CRESWELL: The Bulldogs travel to regionals this Saturday to compete against Elmira, Harrisburg, Jefferson, Santiam Christian, Scio, Siuslaw/Mapleton, and Taft. The Bulldogs have mostly competed in duals this season against these teams, so they will know what to expect. Look for Mateus Archibek (190) for the boys, and Paige Ledgerwood (125) for the girls. Both have had solid seasons for the Bulldogs, with their records at 30-8 and 39-6, respectively.
■ PLEASANT HILL: The Billies will compete in the Class 3A Special District 3 Championships this weekend against Bonanza/Lost River, Cascade Christian, Coquille, Douglas, Glide, North Valley, South Umpqua, and Sutherlin.The Billies will look to get meaningful victories over competition they’ve faced all year. Look for Bryson Boyles (113) and Kamdyn Greene (120) to compete for first on the boys side, and Mattie Peacock (170) on the girls side.
