Maralyn Ann Coop: April 21, 1941 – January 30, 2026

Maralyn Ann Coop passed away on January 30, 2026, in Creswell, Oregon, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 21, 1941, in Olympia, Washington, to proud parents Clyde and Wanlyn “Billie” (Lennon) Curtis, Maralyn’s life was one of devotion to her family, her faith, and her community.

She married the love of her life, Dale S. Coop, on December 12, 1959, in Eugene, Oregon. Together, they built a family founded on the principles of love, kindness, and faith.

A high school graduate, Maralyn’s education laid the foundation for her life’s work as a homemaker and for her significant role as a minister in the Community of Christ Church. Ordained to the Office of Teacher, she served with humility and passion, attending the Cottage Grove congregation where she was a cherished member.

Her creative spirit found joy in tole painting, an art form through which she expressed her love for beauty and detail. Maralyn was also a skilled cook, known for her delicious meals and home canning. Her creative legacy will live on in the recipes and artwork she leaves behind.

Maralyn is survived by her beloved husband, Dale; her sons, Robert D. Coop of Creswell, OR, Gerald A. Coop of Las Vegas, NV, and Andrew D. Coop of Creswell, OR; her daughter, Beverly A. Burk of Creswell, OR; her sister, Joyce Andreasen of Eugene, OR; her adored 12 grandchildren; and her cherished 19 great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her deeply.

A memorial service to celebrate Maralyn’s life will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove, Oregon. It will be an occasion for friends and family to gather, share memories, and honor the remarkable woman that Maralyn was. Her spirit will continue to guide and comfort us, as we hold her memory dear. Maralyn’s presence will be profoundly missed, yet her legacy of love and faith endures.
