SEDA sees new board arrangement

SPRINGFIELD – The Springfield Economic Development Agency (SEDA) held its annual meeting on Jan. 12 to elect new officers as mandated by its board bylaws.

Kori Rodley, who previously served as Chair, was succeeded after Victoria Doyle’s resignation in August 2025. Alan Stout temporarily held both the Vice Chair and Secretary positions after Beth Blackwell’s resignation on Dec. 31.

Board member and county commissioner David Loveall nominated Michelle Webber as chair. Webber deferred acceptance and asked whether the current Vice Chair would be interested in serving as Chair.

“If the council has the confidence in me to do that, I would be honored and humbled to do so, but I would only do so out of extreme admiration and respect for our current Chair,” Stout said.

Webber declined the nomination for Chair and instead nominated Stout for the position.

Board member Steve Moe then nominated Webber for the Vice Chair position, to which she accepted.

Mayor Sean VanGordon nominated the newest city councilor and board member, Andrew Buck, to serve as the SEDA secretary. Buck was appointed to the city council on Oct. 27, 2025, representing Ward 5.

“I will say that I’d be happy to serve on the SEDA board, as I’m new to this,” Buck said. “There’s a learning curve with everything, and this is no exception.”
