Lane County low-income program funding update

The Lane County Low-Income Household Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) has received its federal fiscal year 2026 funding, which was delayed due to the recent government shutdown. However, the program will begin with a $1.2 million reduction compared to last year.

In December, applications were mailed to senior residents (aged 60 and older) and to individuals receiving disability benefits. Recipients are encouraged to respond promptly.

Throughout January, starting at 9 a.m., local agencies will accept direct phone calls and online sign-ups for limited LIHEAP waitlist openings.

Due to high demand, these waitlists are expected to close within minutes. New openings will be available on Feb. 2, with some agencies offering rolling admissions.

Households in need of assistance can visit lanecountyor.gov/energyassistance or call 541-682-3378 for more information on LIHEAP, program eligibility, waitlist sign-ups, and other local utility assistance programs.
