Season finales: Lions fall, Millers miss playoffs, Bulldogs finish strong


Cottage Grove lost to the Crescent Valley Raiders 49-25. After a close first half, the Raiders won at Don King Field thanks to several big offensive performances. Carlos Ochoa rushed for 107 yards and one TD on only five carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a 94-yard run. Ryan Williams threw for 233 yards and four TDs. The Lions finish their first year back in Class 4A with a 4-5 record.

The Springfield Millers dropped their final game of the season 35-14 againist Roseburg, missing out on the playoffs. Junior wide receiver and strong safety Adam Hernandez led the team in receiving yards with 48.9 receiving yards per game, followed by junior receiver Jackson Rich at 28.0, and junior running back Khamani James at 17.1. Senior quarterback and linebacker Noah Solo paced the ground game with 107.6 rushing yards per game, and junior running back Colby Kasperek added 34.9, and James chipped in 27.3. Solo also led in total touchdowns with 14, trailed by Hernandez with 8, and James with 3.

Creswell won againist La Pine 14-0. The Bulldogs ended their season on a high note by downing the La Pine Hawks last week. The Hawks finished the season winless on the road. First-year head coach Chase Beach led the Bulldogs to a 4-5 record. Beach said that the graduating seniors have crafted a winning legacy in Creswell for years to come.

Look for sophomore Bodie Bonar who leads the Colts with 82.8 receiving yards per game, well ahead of junior wide receiver Brody Baker (27.2) and sophomore Bentlee Davenport (19.6). Senior Justin Fisher headlines the rushing attack with 109.6 yards per game, followed by senior Cruz Gray (29.8) and junior Logan Raube (17.4). The scoring leaders are Bonar, who has a team-high 7 total TDs, with Gray adding 6, and Fisher 5.
