Cottage Grove girls soccer went 1-1 last week against Marshfield and Junction City. In their 8-0 win against Marshfield, Brielle Engle had 3 goals; Addison Voelke recorded 1 goal; Ally Kishen scored 2 goals; Aliyah Urenda had 1 goal and GK Nora Heegard had the shutout. On Thursday, the Lions tied 3-3 with the Tigers. Engle and Leach each recorded 1 goal and the Tigers scored on themselves.
In Class 3a, Creswell shutout La Pine 8-0 on Thursday. Junior Mila Nguyen recorded 3 goals and 1 assist. She scored once unassisted, then twice more – once assisted by senior Elliette Kinney and once by junior Kendall Durflinger. She also assisted on senior Kylie Leonard’s goal. Senior Elliette Kinney had a goal and an assist. Durflinger had 2 assists. Freshman Ava Foote scored 1 unassisted goal. Freshman Jazz Garcia Stiner added 1 goal, assisted by Kendall. Junior Keeley Goddard scored 1 goal, assisted by junior Kinslee Roberts. Also, Roberts had 1 assist, setting up Keeley’s goal.
Pleasant Hill went 2-0 last week with shutouts against La Pine and Elmira. It began on Tuesday against La Pine where the Billies won 8-0. Sophomore Kaylee Johnson scored two goals, as did freshman striker Kristen Gardner. Senior captain Trinity Smead added one goal and two assists. Senior Kaylee Gardner, sophomores Zaira Duarte and Allison Morales Martinez, and freshman Emerson Hill all contributed one goal each. Senior captain Isabel Hammond-Mendez had an assist. Senior goalkeeper Kenna Caldwell-Copeland and freshman Kora Flanders each had one save. It was the first time scoring at the high school varsity level for Johnson, Duarte, Morales Martinez, and Hill. On Thursday, the Billies won 7-0 against the Falcons. Gardner had a hat trick with three goals. Hammond-Mendez scored twice while seniors Smead and Gardner each had one goal. Smead also had 4 assist, including two off corner kicks. Gardner had an assist to her younger sister Kristen. Duarte and Emerson also each had an assist. Caldwell-Copeland had one save.
Lastly, Thurston beat Ashland 3-1 last Saturday. Leaders for Thurtson were Quinn Taylor, who scored a goal along with Emmie Gerdrum and Taylor Suiter. Kielyn Ruhl, Delaney Antone, and Suiter all recorded an assist.

Kicking off: The Lions replay Marist Catholic on the road this Monday. After a 6-0 loss earlier to the Spartans, the Lions hope to improve their spot in the Sky-Em League standings. They are sitting in third place.
#13 PLEASANT HILL (5-1-2)
Kicking off: The Billies play the No. 1 Central Linn Cobras for the first time this season and it should be a battle. First team all-league goalkeeper Kenna Caldwell-Coplenad will need to be on her game against the top-ranked Cobras.
#30 SPRINGFIELD (2-5)
Kicking off: The Millers enter the Midwestern League play this week. They begin with a rematch against Churchill this Thursday and then play the Ashland Grizzlies for the first time this season on Saturday. Last season, Springfield finished 5th in the Midwestern League standings.
#13 THURSTON (5-2-1)
Kicking off: The Colts play their biggest Midwestern League opponent this Tuesday: No. 1 North Eugene / Triangle Lake. The Highlanders are 8-0 overall and 1-0 in league play.
