John Robert (Bobby) Simmons: Sept. 10, 1959 – Sept. 27, 2025

John Robert (Bobby) Simmons passed away in Creswell on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025. He was 66.

Bob was born Sept. 10, 1959 at the Cottage Grove Hospital. His mother, Margaret Gueyther, and father, Oren Simmons, were longtime Creswell citizens.

His father died when he was young, and Bob went to live with his brother Guy Hash and his family.

Bob started first grade at Creslane Elementary, went on to middle school and graduated in 1978 from Creswell High School, where he played baseball and basketball. He often liked to reminisce about his days of playing varsity basketball.

He continued to enjoy all kinds of sports for the rest of his life. He was a big Oregon Ducks fan, and he had a real affinity for his beloved Seattle Mariners, who are one of the favorites to reach this year’s World Series.  Bob was so excited to see if this might finally be the year that Seattle fans have been waiting for.

During high school, Bob picked beans every summer and worked as a cook at TJ’s Restaurant. He paid for his own car and many of his own clothes. He was always a good worker. A few years later, he would cook just down the road at the B&B.

Bob is survived by his brother Paul Hash, sister-in-law Dixie Hash, and nine nieces and nephews of the Hash family.

A Celebration of Life memorial service, which was arranged by Patty Scott, was held Saturday, Oct. 4 at the Creswell Grange.  Anyone wishing to help the local unsheltered community in Creswell should contact Ed Gunderson at 541-743-5681 or Bill Kent at 425-208-1383.
