Donations will help stock the district’s food pantry
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Join a special afternoon at Camp Putt that benefits Willamalane’s food pantry. On Sept. 12-14, bring three cans of food per person as admission for a round of mini-golf at Camp Putt. Donations will support the food pantry at Willamalane Adult Activity Center and help stock it for the upcoming season.

Willamalane has seen a 20% increase in the number of people visiting the food pantry this summer. Typically, the pantry gets a majority of its donations from various Willamalane events that encourage donations in lieu of admission fees, such as Children’s Celebration and Concerts in the Park. While those events collected nearly 3,000 pounds of food this summer, the number is fewer than last year. With the rising need in our community, Willamalane is seeking additional donations to help fill the gap.
Tracy Kribs, Willamalane Special Events and Operations Program Manager, shared, “We hope folks come out to Camp Putt this weekend, have some fun, and support our neighbors facing food insecurity.”

Donations can also be made during regular business hours at Willamalane Adult Activity Center at any time of year. The most in-demand items include non-perishable, high-protein foods, such as tuna, peanut butter, and beans. A full list of high-demand items is available at willamalane.org/food.
Willamalane also operates Thurston Community Garden, where one plot is reserved to grow fresh produce for the pantry. So far this season, that plot has produced 843 pounds of food for the food pantry.
