City of Cottage Grove welcomes new planner

The City of Cottage Grove last week announced the hiring of Jeremy Means as the new Associate Planner.

A recent graduate from the University of Oregon, Means holds a Master’s degree in Community and Regional Planning and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Policy and Management.

During his time at the University, he served as Secretary for the Civil Impact Coalition, where he connected students with community partners to enhance professional skills and networking opportunities.

Means previously interned in the Community Development Department of Cottage Grove, where he researched economic development strategies to identify growth opportunities for the city. With a passion for planning and community service, Means said he looks forward to strengthening his relationships with fellow city employees and residents.

Gong to ‘enhance public trust in elections’

Tommy Gong was named Lane County Clerk, a role he began in July. Gong is an experienced election administrator with 22 years in the field.

“We are so pleased to bring an experienced elections administrator and a passionate advocate for building public trust in elections to our community,” said Lane County Operations Director Lorren Blythe.

Gong succeeds Dena Dawson, who left to join the State of Oregon’s elections team. Gong will oversee elections, record real property, issue marriage licenses and domestic partnership registrations, and coordinate the Property Values Appeal Board.
