COTTAGE GROVE – The EDA Main Street Revitalization Project is progressing, officials said.
Traffic is diverted to the south side of Main Street at the 7th Street intersection, remaining westbound. Forms were placed for curb and gutter pouring on Aug. 19 from the bridge to the 5th Street intersection. The 5th and 7th Street intersections are four-way stops, while the 6th Street intersection is closed for excavation.
Wildish plans to complete asphalt paving on the south side of the 6th Street intersection on Aug. 21, reopening once the asphalt cures. Excavation continues on the north side towards the 7th Street intersection. The south side of the 8th Street sidewalks and bulb-outs are complete and reopened, with concrete paving at the 8th Street intersection set for Aug. 21, requiring a week to cure before asphalt can be laid.
Traffic will soon be diverted to the south side from Highway 99 to the Main Street Bridge.
Residents are advised to stay in approved areas and avoid caution tape zones for safety during construction.
The Cleveland Avenue Infrastructure Project is nearing completion, thanks to a $3 million grant from the Oregon Business Development Department.
This funding has facilitated the installation of essential water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure on a 35-acre parcel owned by the City, aimed at future housing development.
Delta Construction has extended the sewer by approximately 1,300 feet along 4th Street to Cleveland Avenue and installed all utilities, including a sewer lift station.
As of last week, the street has been paved, and Delta Construction is finalizing the finishing touches on the street and sidewalk along Cleveland Avenue, west of 6th Street.
