SPRINGFIELD – Willamalane Park and Recreation District will hold its annual Children’s Celebration on Saturday, June 28, at Island Park from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The event offers fun for the entire family, featuring interactive exhibits and activities. Admission is free.
Major construction on Mill Street may affect your route to the park. To get to Island Park in June and July, please plan to use the south A Street entrance (boat ramp side) or the D Street entrance, via Water Street. The B Street entrance will be closed this year. An attached map shows recommended routes. Here are some other tips for alternative transportation options:
Overflow Parking: Overflow parking is available at Booth Kelly (303 S 5th St.), with a shuttle running every 15 minutes.
Ride the Bus: Take the bus to Springfield Station and walk to Island Park. Find a free benefit code at willamalane.org/celebration
Ride your Bike: Springfield BPAC is hosting a bike valet at the D St entrance of the park from 9:30 a.m-2:30 p.m. to keep your bike safe during the event.
Non-perishable food donations are accepted at entrances, and all donations will benefit Willamalane’s food pantry at Willamalane Adult Activity Center. Rain or shine.
