Cyber schools celebrate area grads

Oregon Connections Academy celebrated more than 135 graduating seniors during a commencement ceremony on Saturday, June 7, at the Grand Hotel in Salem, including Paul Rule, of Creswell, and Betty Westing, of Lowell.

Among the OCA graduating class, 30% plan to attend two- or four-year colleges or universities.

New for the 2025-26 academic year, OCA will launch an expanded College and Career Readiness offering for middle and high school students. According to school officials, the offering will integrate traditional academic subjects with industry-leading, career-focused options like IT, business, health sciences, and marketing. 

Willamette Connections Academy celebrated 162 graduating seniors on June 7, including:

■ Sylus Ball, of Springfield

■ Porter Bartlett, of Springfield

■ Aaron Heikes, of Pleasant Hill

■ Kaylina Kohl, of Springfield

■ Nicaloa (Nikki) Tramell, of Marcola

Among the graduating class, 15% plan to enroll in two- or four-year colleges or universities, including Chemeketa College, Oregon State University, the University of Oregon, the University of Portland, and Washington State University. 

Oregon Charter Academy celebrated its graduating seniors on June 7 at the Oregon State Fairgrounds in Salem. 

Of  304 graduating students, eight are from Cottage Grove and Springfield, including Josie Malmstedt, a top 3% of graduates, and Adaiah Dixon, of Cottage Grove. 

Springfield resident Jocelynn Binford participated in the school’s ASCEND career and technical education program, received cumulative honor roll recognition, and is a legacy student, having attended ORCA K-12, and Springfield resident Sean Queener and Jerry Hanson received cumulative honor roll recognition. 

Not all students signed the media release forms and their names are not listed.
