Opening weekend for Drifters

SPRINGFIELD – The Springfield Drifters’ season opens this Friday against the Walla Walla Sweets at Hamlin Park.

With their overhauled coaching staff and front office, the Drifters hope to launch a new era with a strong start to their fourth season in the West Coast League. Rosters remain fluid and the availability of college players still in their seasons can play havoc with the coaches’ plans.

Pitching coach Dean Stiles said Monday the team isn’t sure who the opening night pitcher will be Friday.
Springfield Mayor Sean VanGordon will throw out the first pitch on Opening Night. On top of that, each of the Drifters’ first two games will feature a unique promotional event. On Friday, it’s Willamette Valley Babe Ruth Night – featuring a hat giveaway.

Saturday, the Drifters partner with the Springfield Police Department for First Responders Appreciation Night.

All home games begin at 6:35 p.m. at the Hamlin Sports Complex off Centennial Boulevard and Pioneer Parkway East.

Tickets can be purchased at the front gate or at tickets.driftersbaseball.com/.
