After eight years of planning and efforts to acquire the space, the riverfront land in Glenwood, located between Roaring Rapids and Trax PowerSports, was officially annexed under the jurisdiction of the City of Springfield on May 21.
“Flexibility is the name of the game,” said Allie Camp, the Springfield Economic Development Manager. Camp leads a team focused on the redevelopment of the Glenwood Riverfront. What was once the site of eight family homes in a scenic area between Franklin Boulevard and the Willamette River is now awaiting development.
The final design for the space is still undecided, but some ideas discussed during a recent tour include multi-family housing units, businesses, parks, and open spaces.
