Lane County Special Election: Unofficial results show tight races in South Lane, Springfield

Unofficial results from the Lane County Special District Election reveal several tight races, with potential incumbent upsets looming. As of 11 p.m. on May 20, 41,141 ballots had been cast, and the next update is anticipated by 5 p.m. on May 21. Check out Q&As and columns from all participating candidates here.

In the South Lane School Board elections, there are narrow margins in several director positions.

For Position 5, Tony Lefler leads with 1,279 votes (50.41%), while incumbent vice chair Colleen Valley trails by 21 votes with 1,258 votes (49.59%).

The race for Position 7 is equally competitive, with Bill Parsons ahead at 1,299 votes (50.35%) and incumbent Jeff Gowing trailing by just 22 votes at 1,277 votes (49.50%).

For Position 4, Chris Holloman is in a stronger position with 1,381 votes (53.99%) compared to incumbent Sherry Duerst-Higgins, who has 1,174 votes (45.90%). In the race for Director Position 2, Diane Hicks leads with 1,476 votes (58.85%) against Rayla Campbell, who has 1,026 votes (40.91%). This seat was held by retiring board chair Taylor Wilhour.

The Springfield School Board is also seeing close contests.

For Position 3, Justin Martin holds a slim lead with 2,617 votes (49.84%), just eight votes ahead of incumbent Jonathan Light, who has 2,609 votes (49.69%).

Amber Langworthy is leading in the race for Position 5 with 3,061 votes (54.84%), outpacing Bob Brew with 1,639 votes (29.36%) and Robert Morgan with 871 votes (15.60%). This seat is currently vacant.

For Position 2, incumbent Heather Quaas-Annsa leads significantly with 3,384 votes (64.54%) over Sarah Bosch, who has 1,818 votes (34.67%).

For the Lane Community College Board, 41,135 ballots were cast. Jerry Rust is ahead in Zone 1 with 24,271 votes (64.81%), while opponent Jeffrey Cooper has 13,080 votes (34.93%).

Incumbent Julie Weismann leads in Zone 3 with 19,409 votes (56.68%), compared to opponent Devon Lawson, who has 14,444 votes (42.18%).

In Zone 4, incumbent Austin Fölnagy holds a strong lead with 22,871 votes (65.44%) compared to Richard Andrew Vasquez, who has 11,891 votes (34.02%). For the uncontested Position 7 At-Large, Jesse Alejandro Maldonado won with 26,770 votes (97.96%).

These results are unofficial, and more updates will follow as additional ballots are counted.
