■ Leading off: The Lions invite Marshfield to their field on Friday for a late afternoon doubleheader. The No. 16 Pirates (7-6) and the Lions are tied in the Sky-Em League at 1-2; a win from either team would lift them in the standings. The Lions went 0-3 last year against the Pirates. It’s always a good opportunity to see pitcher Emily Pacheco in her final season at Cottage Grove – she surrendered three hits and three runs while striking out 11 batters in Game One against North Bend last week. Also, don’t miss Addison Hitt, who went 4-for-3 with two RBIs last week.
