PIZZA AND JAZZ
■ If you want to help children pursue their musical interests, the Shasta Middle School Jazz Band will provide entertainment on Tuesday, April 22, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Roaring Rapids Pizza Co. on Glenwood Blvd. in Springfield. Half the proceeds between 5 and 9 p.m. will benefit the band, and generosity makes pizza taste even better!
K9 RIPP PLUSHIE
■ Need a snuggle bud? Get a customized plushie of Cottage Grove Police K9 Ripp for $20, and all profits will be donated to Working Dogs Oregon, which donated K9 Ripp to the CGPD in 2023. The stuffed animals are available in the PD lobby or finance counter. At the time of publication, there were less than 20 plushies left. I suggest you run, not walk. … Also, watch for a feature story regarding Working Dogs Oregon in an upcoming edition of The Chronicle. That organization is something else!
CHEESE FOR CRESWELL
■ Coming off the heels of a successful FOOD for Lane County fundraiser for the 11th annual Grilled Cheese Experience, Blue Valley Bistro at 116 Melton Road in Creswell will donate $2 for every special prosciutto and mozzarella panini sold. BVB owner Seth Clark said proceeds this month will benefit Creswell Food Pantry, and next month, they’re choosing a different panini and nonprofit to showcase.
DIAPER DONATIONS
■ Around the Grove newsletter curator Cindy Weeldreyer dropped a shocking statistic in this week’s newsletter: On average, a baby can go through between 2,000 diapers in his or her first year. Lane County has a diaper shortage, so the Cottage Grove High School Key Club is hosting a disposable diaper drive through April 30. There are several locations throughout town to donate: Cottage Grove City Hall, Cottage Grove Library, Bi-Mart, Walgreens, Cottage Grove High School, Harrison Elementary, Bohemia Elementary, Lincoln Middle School, and Rincon Del Taco Truck on Row River Road.
I SPY PINWHEELS
■ April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and if you see blue pinwheels outside Cottage Grove City Hall or on a police officer’s lapel, they are there to represent child abuse awareness and prevention. The blue pinwheel represents hope, safety, health, and happiness, and it is said that when the pinwheel shines in the sun, it reflects the bright future that all children deserve.
