SPRINGFIELD – At the March 3 city council meeting, Springfield Mayor Sean VanGordon proclaimed March 2-7 as Women in Construction Week, recognizing the contributions of women in the construction industry. The proclamation highlighted the work of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Chapter 77, which supports the advancement of women in the field and promotes skilled trade careers.
“Women play a vital role in shaping the future of our cities and communities through construction,” VanGordon said. “We recognize their hard work, resilience, and contributions to an industry that continues to grow and evolve. Springfield is proud to support opportunities that empower women in the trades.”
