Springfield ‘Block Party’ returns, seeks title sponsor for annual event

Springfield’s “The Block Party” is returning for its sixth year and will expand to cover over seven city blocks in 2025. The party will feature more music, food, and libations while deepening its impact in Historic Downtown Springfield.

The event has become popular for residents, businesses, and civic organizations.

The gathering “exists to bring the community together and celebrate the city’s vibrant culture,” said founder Benjamin Wilkinson. He noted that Springfield Mayor Sean VanGordon said “the success of our 2024 Springfield Block Party demonstrates the importance of bringing each other together. Families joined to celebrate our community with games, music, and shared experiences,” the mayor said in his annual address.

Wilkinson said that to support this growth, organizers are seeking a title sponsor—a prominent strategic partner to help elevate outreach and programming for 2025.

Wilkinson has funded The Block Party through small-dollar sponsorships from Main Street businesses, local service groups, and medium-dollar Premium Sponsors, with organizers volunteering their time.

“In 2022, we raised $7,000 and spent $7,000,” Wilkinson said. “With explosive growth in ’23 and ’24, it’s clear The Block Party needs additional support. We know a local company with proud Springfield roots is ready to play a major role in this incredible event.”
