Bags of Love
What to donate: New and like-new used items for children ages birth to 17, in sizes ranging from preemie to adult 4XL.
Examples: Sweatshirts, coats, new socks and new underwear, new pajamas, disposable diapers and pull-ups, new toiletries and feminine hygiene products, baby products, hair products, books (English, Spanish or bi-lingual), stuffed animals, toys for kids of all ages, school supplies, quilt tops that their sewers or quilters can finish, accessories for teenagers (wallets, fun jewelry, nail polish, etc.)
Where: Warehouse at 1052 Green Acres Rd., and bins located at The Springs at Greer Garden, 1282 Goodpasture Island Rd., Eugene, and Juvenal’s Bakery 541 W. Centennial, Springfield. More info: bagsofloveinc.org.
Toys for Tots
Candice Hook: Allstate Insurance at 3033 W 11th Ave, Eugene, is collecting brand new toys again this year for Toys for Tots. Stop by the office by Dec. 13 to drop off your new, unwrapped toys. … South Lane Concerts on Dec. 7 will also collect Toys for Tots at its Community Worship Concert from 4-6 in the Cottage Grove High School Auditorium.
Local nonprofits allocated grant money from Health Authority
Funds from Oregon Health Authority through the Community Capacity Building Funds will support statewide efforts by community and social service organizations to connect climate devices, housing assistance and nutrition services to eligible Oregon Health Plan members. Updates from Community Alliance of Lane County
Community Alliance of Lane County (CALC) programs, Springfield Alliance for Equity and Respect (SAfER) and Unión de Activistas (UdA) youth group, together with our partners at Escudo Latino, are building leadership cohorts among BIPOC youth and families in our community.
At their last meeting, the Voces Unidas parent group discussed the return to school. At our upcoming meeting, families will practice protecting our rights and advocating for ourselves in school and city systems. Unión de Activistas youth interviewed local student activists.
